Welcome to Chiangmai and Chiangrai magazine

It's not just coincidence that "Welcome to Chiang Mai" was born at the time of Loy Krathong November 15, 1986. The Loy Krathong Festival has often been described as Thailand's most beautiful and meaningful celebration. It is a festival of light, of public fireworks and millions of candle flames flickering and moving in gentle water currents. As each individual's krathong floats away, it is time to say goodbye to old regrets and to look forward to a brighter future. "Welcome to Chiang Mai" magazine came into this world as another tiny light and no one could foretell that it would blaze to become a friendly guiding light of knowledge and information to anyone seeking quality coverage of our glorious Northern Kingdom of Lanna-Thai.

As technology advanced, we entered the age of electronics and the Internet. Our web site www.chiangmai-chiangrai.com became our younger sibling with an outreach to the world. Hey World, here we are : The Kingdom of Lanna-Thai. Come read about us, come visit us. And so they did. Net-surfers have visited our web site (our record number of hits for a single week is 150,000 hits) and all are given a comprehensive preview of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Sorn and the Northern Thailand Experience. It's all there -- culture, people, food, arts & crafts, what to do (and not do), what to see and a host of options which only an up-to-date, homegrown media source can provide.

Side by side, our printed, monthly magazine and our electronic magazine carry the banner of the Kingdom of Lanna-Thai far and wide. Thousands of magazine copies are distributed monthly and FREE to all visitors. We, as Publishers and Editors, give Birthday Congratulations to all who have supported us from the first issue and grateful thanks to the many people who continue to assist us on a day to day basis. Thanks a million (and more) to our readers, -- our visitors and to those overseas who link to our web site. Next, and every bit as importantly, we offer sincerest thanks to our advertisers who provide the life-blood for our magazine. Our success is also our advertisers' success and, as a quality magazine of long-standing, we support all of the excellent products, merchandise and services featured in our magazine. So a very big THANK YOU to our advertisers for the warm relationship we have shared over the years.

To the people who work with us -- what would we do without them? Our office staff, graphic artists, designers, writers, contributors, printers, and distributors are now in its 22th Year and are proud to produce the quality magazine for all who are interested in visiting or learning more of our Kingdom of Lanna-Thai.

Thank you all for making it so.

Sincerely yours,

Goson and Margaret Bhadungzong

From time to time, we have recieved letters and emails expressing appreciation for having useful information. This is one of them. A million thanks for giving us more cheerful encouragement.

Hello Khun Margaret, My name is Sornchai, I have been a guide bringing foreign guests to Chiangmai for many years. I just picked up the most recent copy and learned even more about the hsitory of our country. I want to take this opportunity while I am in Chiangmai to thank you and Ajarn Goson for being my most respected teachers.

I feel every guide is thankful to you for the content of the issues over the past many years.

I often asked myself how is it that this couple producing this magazine can love Thailand so much and give us Thai the knowledge and pride in our country history and culture. Last month I asked your staff to give me 100 copies for the incentive group from Citroen who will be visiting Chiangmai.

I want to share with them the magazine that is so informative describing the Thai wisdom and history of the past.

When I have more time in the future, I will visit your office and pay my respect personally. Really, I just cannot express my gratitude for your magazines.
