All Daeng's Jazz
CHICAGO AND CHIANGMAI have more in common than the first three letters of their names being the same, there's also all that jazz the hot piano player at Amari Rincome Hotel gets listeners up from their seats and moving to the rhythm. Through the past 20 plus years of his professional career, musician Daeng Fantastic has made many friends by sharing his talent. For the past 8 years, Daeng has been the star appearing in the lobby lounge at the Amari Rincome Hotel. The reason for his success is that the chemistry between Daeng and his audience is immediate, warm feelings ensure and guests look forward to listening to each jazzy rendition. He's a genuine entertainer.
The launch of Saturday Night Jazz in the La Gritta Italian Restaurant was attended. Several Bangkokians came to enjoy Daeng's performance. They remembered Daeng from his most recent jamming in a fund raising concert at the Shangri-la Hotel with Thailand's Pink Panther pop band in February 2003. The evening's gala concert raised over three million Bath for the charities for which H M Queen is the patron.
After the first evening of Saturday Night Jazz at the end of May, the hotel management received many letters of appreciation from hotel guests expressing their surprise and delight to be able to listen to jazz in the unlikely small city of Chiangmai.
Daeng's love of music includes jazz, swing, New Orleans, roadside blues, Latin, 60's, 50's even Elvis hits are played in slow swing blues. Guests often request popular hits of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington and that's when Daeng goes to town on the piano, vibraphone, or guitar as fits the mood.
Saturday Night Jazz in the La Gritta Italian Restaurant is a weekly event featuring music and fine food. The Amari Rincome Hotel has long been Chiangmai residents favorite meeting place since the 1970's. Elegant La Gritta is paneled in teak, chandeliers glow overhead and wide expansive windows look out to Huay Kaew Road.
Executive Chef Adrian O'Herlihy, a member of the "Panel of Chefs of Ireland", has supported the Irish Nation Chefs Team on many occasions. He is the proud recipient of eight separate awards for his culinary excellence. He also has wide experience as a judge at international competitions, and his gift for creating fine cuisine has frequently seen him cooking for international dignitaries, presidents and diplomats. Chef Adrian's expertise comes not only from natural talent and long experience, but from something else as special as it is subtle that touch of magic born in the green mountains and fertile valleys of his native Ireland.
Chef Adrian creates a theme buffet each Saturday night. Music lovers feast like emperors enjoying top-grade beef, superb seafood, fine Italian and exotic Asian specialties.
