Predictions from Unusual Spots

Wisdom, fortune, manner, habits, luck, profession, marriage, family, love life, life, etc., for most Thai people are under the influence of their birth time, and are evidenced by palm lines, fingerprints, facial features, moles, birthmarks, etc. For these reasons, fortune tellers use some of these characteristics to predict the futures of their clients.

Various marks are classified by our ancient hermit into three different anatomical categories:

• Mole ("Fhai") a small black bead on a person's skin.
• Birthmark ("Bpaan") flat, discolored portions of skin, which may be thick or thin, red or black, which were present at birth. A birthmark can also sometimes be hairy.
• Freckles ("Khee Maeng Wan") small spotted skin discoloration which may have been present at birth, but also might be caused by excessive exposure to the sun, or by aging. The fortunetellers, however, do not pay attention to freckles in making their predictions.

Mole or Birthmark on Either Upper Thigh at Groin

This man is steady in life and steady in his passions. In early adulthood he will move from his place of birth and take up happy residence in a faraway city. He is popular with people he meets, makes friends easily and will be successful as a loyal employee or in business on his own account. A good marriage brings him sons and daughters, to whom he is devoted, and future grandchildren will give him much joy and happiness in his later years. A happy man with a happy life.

Such a lady will be plagued by emotional insecurity. She has to prove her worth, to herself, time and time again. This causes many problems, including several divorces, as she works feverishly to build a career and gain respect. She is good at what she does, but does not realize this, as she scares most people away with her workaholic attitudes. So the lady's life will be a switchback of ups and downs, business success and emotional failure. Later life will bring some happiness when she retires from a hectic, career-driven life.

Mole or Birthmark on Either Upper Thigh under Buttock

This male is naturally charismatic and popular with the girls type of guy. Broad minded and not averse to adventures of passion, this may bring problems as the rewards of a successful career are dissipated by a series of affairs of the heart. He tends to wear his heart of his sleeve so, in mid-life when ill-health may bedevil him and his financial resources are low, his relatives refuse to take his problems seriously as they think he is only "broken hearted" from his latest relationship.

This lady is born into good social circumstances with money, property and family respect. Naturally pretty her biggest flaw may be her procrastination and inability to say "No". She is a follower rater than a leader, finds career work difficult as she's not accustomed to it. Life s path may see her getting lost several times until, in late life, she will be virtually alone as she may have wandered too far from relatives and friends.

Mole or Birthmark on Front, Either Mid-Thigh

An ideal for many persons, this man is naturally understanding, industrious, independent and ambitious with just the right amount of politeness and respectfulness. He is sought after by many girls and will happily marry his heart's choice. However, his abundance of good qualities may bring petty jealousies from career rivals and give him routine ups and downs. Old age will see him in comfort and love from his children and respect from his friends.

Such a lady is popular with many people but this may be due to her deviousness rather than anything else. She is a risk taker but avoids hard work and responsibility by adopting a high-profile, eye-catching life of fashion and the social whirl. Her natural attractiveness, wit and charm assist her in doing this and may lure many men to her web where they are used and tossed aside. This is really her life career so, in old age, she will be financially sound and in the comfort of her loving children and relatives.

Mole or Birthmark at Back, Either Mid-Thigh

Another of life's achievers, this man is industrious, not hasty, talented and responsible in attitude. Although tough at the beginning, his success will bring financial bounty and he is happy to include others in his good fortune. A happy marriage will boost his chosen career path and he will rise to high rank in either Government or Private sectors. Late life will see him in comfortable retirement with a happy family and respect of his friends.

Such a girl may be thought of as a "new age butterfly". Naturally intelligent and sure of herself, she rejects the old, conservative traditions in favor of trying anything new. Drawn to her ambition of fame, affluence and the "sweet life" she may find high-flying not easy to sustain and there are many problems encountered along the way. In later life, close friends give up on her erratic lifestyle and, possibly to avoid a scandal, she may move away from her home town. A broken hearted lady who sees, too late, that all that glitters is not gold.
