Amazing Mini-Light and Sound Presentation
Chiang Rai Province

CHIANGRAI PROVINCE is Thailand's northernmost province, which shares a border with Burma and the Lao PDR. It is also the site of many worthwhile tourist attractions and, as an integral part the ancient Lanna Thai kingdom has a developed, civilized culture dating back many centuries.

Beginning twenty years ago H.R.H. the Princess Mother, the mother of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej, began efforts in Chiangrai to assist the various hilltribes who have settled in the mountains of Chiangrai to develop and abandon opium production. This was done through crop-replacement schemes of remunerative cash crops, traditional handicraft promotion and sales, and education and infrastructure development. In order to pay homage to the memory of the Princess Mother, to celebrate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King's sixth birth-cycle of twelve years, and as part of Chiangrai Province's participation in Ecotourism during the Amazing Thailand Tourism Promotion Year, 1998-1999 the Tourism Authority of Thailand, in conjunction with numerous provincial agencies is producing an Amazing Mini-Light and Sound Presentation which will highlight the traditional culture and customs of the province's various hilltribes. Performances will take place at the Hilltribe Development and Assistance Center, T. Pa Sang, A. Mae Chan, Chiangrai.

This dazzling production will feature a voice-over narration and songs, released as a tape or CD, in both Thai and English and the program details will be printed in Thai, English, French, Japanese and Chinese.
