Practicing the essence of a warm hospitality with her holistic approach, a spa owner - Petcharat Kittiboonyapas operates the Huean Naam Ping Thai Cuisine Restaurant by Mahanaga.
A gorgeous restaurant on the bank of the quiet Mae Ping River offering food that’s beautiful and delicious. In our interview, I found her to be a fascinating lady who believes in impeccable hospitality, service and quality outcome to please her discerning clientele. Her chefs and cooking team developed a line of Thai fusion dishes to meet the taste buds of diners who bring their guest to try a popular Thai cuisine.
Khun Petcharat established first Mahanaga Fusion Restaurant seven years ago in a prime area of Bangkok. At that time, she saw the need for an attractive venue to entertain some guests who visiting from abroad with Thai cuisine. Most first time visitors cannot enjoy the Thai food and find the spices to be overpowering, so the idea of fusion food that is authentic ingredients but mildly flavored with delicate western ingredients to be the perfect blend for those guests.
About three years ago, Khun Petcharat traveled to the majestic area of Chiang Mai, and found an elegant vintage house on the Mae Ping River to be too irresistible. The compound layout was ideal for the branch of Mahanaga. The open terrace on the river edge was just one of the attractive charms of her restaurant image. The seating area for 100 guests makes it a perfect place for weddings, receptions and superb dining experience. Two riverfront pavilions surrounded with full glass walls offer panoramic river views. Each pavilion has 30 dining tables inside with spectacular décor. It was quite a project to renovate the vintage house that had been unoccupied for a few years, and bring it back to the vivid atmosphere it holds today. The final result appealed to the editor of Baan Lae Suan, a popular home decorating magazine to feature the restaurant in an issue.
An open terrace balcony atop the vintage residence offers comfort and relaxation with exquisite views from the deep cushioned chairs. Here guests can enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail beverage before a tasty dinner. Either colorful sunset view or a starry night along with lively music add to the congeniality of the Huean Naam Ping.
Yes, the ambience is important but how about the food? The food is wonderful. A number of the dishes from the new menu were introduced on the April 5 TV program " Brio Baak including Huean Naam Ping’s Goong Naam Ping special with Thai sauce, and be sure to try the Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Tamarind Sauce. The menu ranges from moderate price of 80-220 Baht.
The signature menu items from the original Mahanaga Bangkok are also available here such as Yellow Curry with Lamb Chop, Somtaam Thai Papaya Salad with Pork Chop, and Grilled Salmon topped with Choochi Red Curry. Huean Naam Ping offers very extensive wine list. The temperature controlled wine cellar carries over 100 labels of quality wine from around the world. It also presents Chilean wine by glass or carafe.
The team of chefs and staff has been trained in Mahanaga Bangkok with the mindset of serving delicious food and good hospitality. The quality of the food and superb ambience will make Huean Naam Ping to be one of your favorite dining spots in Chaing Mai.
