Ob Khan National Park

Ob Khan National Park

Ob Khan National Park is situated on the left side of Khaan River 30 kms south of Chiangmai and features the 1.550 m Khun Tian mountain. It covers an area of 484 km. 2 in districts of Hang Dong, San Patong, Mae Waang, and Samoeng. It offers a breathtaking view of the natural scenery of waterfalls. From Chiangmai take Rte. 121 or Irrigation canal Road at Tohn Payom market (on Suthep Road) past the bridge toward Chiangmai Night Safari or Royal Flora Rajapreuk and about 5 kms later keep driving across the canal at the sign to ob Khan located 11 kms far then to the park office.

Ob Khan is a strange and beautiful natural sight-seeing spot in the area of Mae Khaan River, near the boundary of districts mentioned above where the office of the Ob Khaan National Park is located. The sight-seeing spot originated from the erosion of cliffs on both sides of Mae Khan River.

Tookgataen Cave is a large cave on the left-hand side of Huay Khanin, situated in the area of Banpong subdistrict, Hangdong District (near Namsoom Royal Project). At the mount of the cave, there are beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. The depth of the cave has not yet been surveyed due to extreme coolness and humidity inside the cave. The cave should be developed as a tourist attraction. And the National Park's Protection Unit should also be established at this site.
