The Red Cross Station 3 on Vichayanon Road and the Zonta International Chiang Mai Club distributed 200 heavy sweaters to senior citizens in Pai. Charter President Somboon Suprasert, Immediate Past President Hope Watcharaprecha and Past President Margaret Bhadungzong were warmly greeted by the Nai Ampur and the senior citizens. The seniors were from 8 different neighborhoods in the Pai city district. Each one was pleased to be remembered with a warm garment. This is not the first time the two organizations have worked together. In 2005, after seeing the television coverage of the flooding and landslide devastation, Zonta volunteers and Red Cross nurses from Station 3 went to Pai to distribute dozens of pairs of rubber boots necessary to stop the spread of foot disease among villagers scavenging through thick mud trying to retrieve any type of valuable they could locate. Additionally, gift bags of essential items were distributed with the wish for families in Pai to get back on their feet again. You can show your appreciation of the kindness of the Thai people you meet during your visit, with a donation to assist the needy in times of trouble.
